Eye Care Navigation Service – The Pilot for the eye care navigation service (previously SPOA) has been re-launched in St.Helens, Halton and Knowsley on 3rd November 2025, and launched for the first time in Warrington (and Liverpool) on 1st December 2025. The ECNS provides clinical triage for all routine and urgent referrals via OPERA followed by an informed patient choice process.

Alder Hey Post Vision Screening Service Launch

In February 2026, Alder Hey launched a post vision screening service giving choice to the parents of those children who did not meet the expected visual standards to be seen more quickly in a local/community setting. Although this is for children of Liverpool and South Sefton Schools, Knowsley practitioners should be aware that this is a service they are able to participate in for those who sit on the border of Liverpool and Knowsley.
